ETH Zurich recommends laptop computers for all students

The Executive Board of ETH Zurich has approved the 4th phase of Project "Neptun - Laptops for Learning".

The project Neptun 2004/05 will continue the successful processes of the previous years. Minor adjustments will be made based on the experiences so far.

New is the recommendation to all students at ETH Zurich that they should own a laptop computer by the start of the second year of study at the latest. The Departments can decide to deviate from this general recommendation.

A further important goal will be to prepare for the transfer of the Neptun project into routine operation from the beginning of 2006.

The cooperation with other educational establishments in Switzerland and abroad will be continued and expanded. Close collaboration is planned especially with EPF Lausanne and their new "Poséidon" project, which is modeled on the Neptun concept.

The Neptun shop will open from 11 to 31 October 2004 and from 21 March to 10 April 2005.
